R. John Ichter is an award winning artist who is quickly captivating the art scene wherever his work is shown. He is best known for his brilliantly colored, stylized landscapes in pastel on suede and acrylics on canvas, reverse acrylics on plexiglass, acrylic and resin three-dimensional koi, watercolors, encaustics, and abstract oil and acrylic on canvas. His color-saturated landscapes and dragonflies convey his passion for the beauty of nature and his intense abstract works show his depth of imagination and spontaneity.
Ichter includes elements in his paintings from different regions of the United States and the world that he has experienced in his travels. All of these elements are transformed by his imagination into works with striking visual impact that are at the same time peaceful. R. John Ichter’s signature style has been developed over an almost Forty-year career in painting. In all of his work, intense competing colors co-exist harmoniously and create a sense of a lush, vibrant, and idyllic natural world. Also known as "Bob" to his friends, Ichter's romantic pastels are richly colored and hand-rubbed onto lushly textured black suede archival board. According to Ichter, each piece is designed to evoke a certain time of day and to transport the viewer to another place.
