Ken West is a Midwest photographer who documents the display of nature's creativity expressed in the light, color, and texture of rural landscapes, prairies, wetlands, and forests.

A fourth-generation professional photographer, Ken has deep Midwestern roots. His great grandfather, Daniel Marion West, opened a photography studio in the early twentieth century in Maries County, Missouri. In this studio, his grandfather, Harry Gordon West, learned about photography and then later pursued a career as an award-winning portrait photographer. Ken's father, Kenneth Gordon West Sr., learned about photography and art from his father and went on to become a nationally recognized leader in the graphic arts industry.

Some of Ken's earliest childhood memories are of watching his grandfather operate his camera, develop sheet film by hand, and make photographic prints. In the master-apprentice tradition, Ken learned about the principles of photography from both his grandfather and father. By applying these principles and using today's digital technology, Ken has mastered the art of capturing the dynamic range of light and color present in the landscapes of the Midwest.

Ken's landscape photography has been exhibited at the National Center for Nature Photography, America's first and only center devoted exclusively to nature photography. His exhibition prints are displayed in corporate and institutional settings as well as in private homes.

His exquisite landscape and nature photographs are represented in the Kansas City area by Prairiebrooke Gallery. Ken personally makes and signs each museum-quality print using 100% cotton fine art paper and specially formulated pigmented inks.
